The CILECT Standing Committee on Sustainability (CSCS) has proposed a practical Green Conference Framework to support more sustainable delivery of the CILECT Congress. Grounded in a “Measure, Reduce, Offset” approach and aligned with international best practice, the framework focuses on achievable actions that reduce environmental impact while maintaining the Congress’s core values of international exchange, inclusivity, and cultural diversity.

 

The CILECT Congress 2026 will be piloting key measures including:

• Reduced travel emissions for speakers

• Paperless conference materials

• Reusable signage 

• Plant-forward food options where practical

• Reduced single-use plastics

• Responsible waste management

 

Designed to be flexible across different host countries and venues, the framework prioritises credibility, practicality, and continuous year-on-year improvement as part of CILECT’s commitment to sustainable cultural and screen education practice.
